.:Tips and Tricks
This page is to provide some general information on learning to snowboard. It was compiled and edited by a professional snowboard instructor to help with learning, east coast snow conditions, etc. However, NOTHING will beat taking a personal lesson from a professional snowboard instructor.

Stance
1. Balanced, relaxed and athletic stance over the edge you are riding on (toe or heel). A flexible lower body is key. You can ride using only your lower body movements.

2. Minimal tensions or twist up at the waist, upper body should be in alignment with the angle of your feet. You are not skiing so keep the upper body in somewhat of an alignment with the lower body. (Stand sideways and/or relative to the angle of the feet).

3. Shoulders parallel with the board - this will assure you are weighting and balancing on both feet evenly (50-50) and staying on the "sweet spot" (center) of the board.

4. If you buy a board and it is not assembled, I recommend a stance width the same as the width of you shoulders. Until you know enough to decide for yourself put the front binding at 15 degrees forward and the back at 0 to 5 degrees.
